happy trans visibility day
writeswrongsAwhile back a friend of mine asked me if I knew of any resources for parents of trans folks (adult and children). So I put an ask out and got a quite a few resources. I’ve been meaning to compile this all into one list and share for some time.
I don’t read Spanish fluently to know how great these are so read and use at your own discretion. Feel free to send me more and I’ll add them to this list.
- Kids health “Personas transexuales”: http://m.kidshealth.org/parent/en_espanol/crecimiento/transgender-esp.html
- El/La Para Trans Latinas : http://ellaparatranslatinas.yolasite.com/
- Guia para padres y madres”: http://www.familiasporladiversidad.es/files/objetos/guia_para_padres_y_madres.pdf
- Tumblr user that often posts info for trans folks in Spanish. Could searched this tumblr to find info: http://latinosexuality.tumblr.com/
- Guia didactica transexualidad: http://www.murcia.ccoo.es/comunes/recursos/15720/625481-Guia_Didactica_TRANSEXUALIDAD.pdf or the website: http://www.cogam.org/secciones/educacion/documentos-sin-orden/i/34983/154/guia-didactica-sobre-transexualidad-para-jovenes-y-adolescentes)
- Trans Youth Family Allies “Recursos en Espanol”: http://www.imatyfa.org/resources/recursos-en-espanol/
- Nuestra Hijas y Nuestros Hijos: Preguntas y Respuestas para Padres de Gays, Lesbianas y Bisexuales:
- http://www.pflag.org/fileadmin/user_upload/Publications/Nuestras_hijas.pdf and the older version http://www.pflag.org/fileadmin/user_upload/Publications/SeTuMismo.pdf
Big thanks to Cielito-lindo, inlovewithglaciers, jopara, 37ml, conejitocomelechuga, poorunf0rtunatesouls, lipstick-feminists, and iridescent1 for their help identifying these resources and boosting this way back when.
Since trans people experience high rates of interpersonal abuse and institutional oppression, I wanted to add this to the resources tag. Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!
One of my biggest fears is not being able to be a big sister to my younger sisters #transdayofvisibilty
On this Transgender Day of Visibility I’d like to tell all my sisters and brothers out there to be strong. Life is really hard when the world is against you and it’s even worse when you have to battle yourself to stay alive. I can only make it everyday because of the wonderful support I get from friends and followers here on Tumblr. I want to thank everyone who supported me in this long journey that barely started.
Stay safe, stay strong. Love you all. - Kaya [she/her]
a vision 🙏
wow
Times where I’ve felt really fucking hot. Some more confusing (or maybe enlightening?) than others…but I’m definitely starting to feel a little more in-touch and happy with myself these days. Thinking more frequent stops to the men’s department in future shopping trips are due as well. Happy #transvisibilityday 😉
B. Binaohan’s tweets about TDOV.
While I enjoy how many Black and Brown trans people are on my dash right now, let’s not sit here and pretend like this day isn’t based around the wants and needs of white folks.
These are 10 of the best moments of my journey —all including my first shave, a bra burning to celebrate top surgery, the surgery itself, and the healing process of becoming me. This is me. All of me. The world can choose to accept it or hate it, but no one can take away the man standing before you.
Today is a day for visibility. So today, my journey is visible for any and every person who needs proof that it really does get better.
Disabled // Queer // Femme Trans Boi (he/him/his) // Latinx // Punk // Radical
My contribution to the Trans Day of Visibility! Fuck gender norms, I’m making my own definition of masculinity, and reinventing “pretty boy swag.” Reppin’ it for all the other disabled qtpoc folk out there. Rise up and let your vices be heard! Never be silenced, never let this world erase you. Live your truth and be proud, because you matter. Your voice, your presence, together we show the world that we matter, that we’re here and that they’re not taking shit away from us. No matter how much they oppress us, we ain’t goin no fuckin’ place! Keep on living your truth, and living authentically. You are beautiful and valid. Always remember that you matter, and that you are enough! ♡ ♡ ♡
HELLO!!!!!!! my name is Thom and im a trans boy from Sydney. Ive been waiting for a long long time to go on testosterone and start HRT but unfortunately i still have to wait until the end of this year, and even then i will not be able to afford HRT by myself + mothers help, my dad refuses to contribute to my transition and my mother is already struggling financially as it is. I suffer from depression and anxiety disorders that are all related to being trans, i have been trying for years to get a job but being trans makes that hard as well. i would really appreciate any donation you can spare!! this is incredibly important to me and would bring down my dysphoria by an incredible amount. you can donate here!!!!! thank you!!!!!
Please REBLOG in spirit of #TDOV
my name is jayce, (he/him) pronouns and I just successfully came out as a boy on my snapchat and I’m shaking as I type this because I hope I can get a good reaction when I come out to my mom. I’m scared because I don’t want to lose her but if I do I know I always have my tumblr family to come home to
